My first encounter with Aroma Espresso Bar was back in 2009 while I was in Tel Aviv. Their attractive café with vibrant red decor caught my eye but it is their signature coffee blend that has kept me coming back, now six years later.
Aroma is not your typical drop-in where you pick up your coffee to-go. For me, it’s somewhere you want to hang out at – the place to setup your laptop and work for an hour or the convenient meeting spot to grab a bite with friends.
For an establishment that refers to themselves as an “espresso bar”, they actually offer an extensive food menu. My favourite time to hang out here is weekend brunch. The atmosphere is casual, the food is delicious, prices are reasonable AND the Liberty Village location serves booze!
I recently met up with a lovely group of bloggers for a patio brunch. We are loyal fans of Aroma and call ourselves the #AromaGirls. Needless to say, there was a lot of laughs, gossip and food porn!
So what’s exactly on Aroma’s Mediterranean-inspired menu? Everything from made-to-order salads and sandwiches to pastries baked fresh, all-day breakfasts and gourmet coffee, teas and specialty hot/cold drinks prepared by expertly-trained baristas.
Shakshuka is my comfort food here. Two sunny-side up eggs float on top of a rich warm tomato and pepper sauce. It is served with Tahini and freshly baked bread.
The Aroma Power Breakfast was created to fuel you all day! It includes two eggs any style, mixed greens salad, olives, feta cheese, cream cheese, avocado spread and bread with butter.
Those who prefer to start the day on a sweeter note will savour their classic battered French Toast, topped with fresh fruit, homemade whipped cream, and drizzled with maple syrup. Yum!
This is the perfect grab-and-go meal… egg of your choice and cheese melted in a flaky butter croissant.
One of my favourite food is soup. I can eat it every day! This vegan lentil soup is the one I always order. Make it a combo by adding a half sandwich for lunch. They have the BEST (and softest) bread hands down! It is gluten-free and you have a choice of white, whole wheat or multi-grain.
Aroma serves up 10 types of sandwiches. Everyone in my office raves over the Avocado Sandwich with spicy jalapeno pepper spread. I also highly recommend the Smoked Salmon, Grilled Chicken Breast or the Grilled Eggplant Sandwich (if you are vegan you can swap out the cheese for tofu free of charge). Pair it up with one of their twelve salads and you’ve got yourself a nutritious hearty meal.
What’s this about booze? Yep, you read correctly. The Liberty Village location has a liquor license and a big patio great for people-watching… this is definitely the place to end a busy work day or start your weekend!
Chose your own alcoholic bevy: Ice Mojito, Ice Aroma with Baileys, Iced Rum Berry Tea Lemonade, Irish Cream Latte with Baileys, Affogato with Baileys or the classic Mimosa. Cheers!
Founded in Jerusalem in 1994, Aroma Espresso Bar has expanded to over 30 cafés across Toronto with locations in Markham, Mississauga, Niagara-on-the-Lake, and Oakville.
